New College Student Scholarship

This is a noncompetitive scholarship for current Seniors at West Yellowstone Highschool.
The funds available for this scholarship are donated by the West Yellowstone Foundation, Siegel Family Scholarship Fund, Cross Charitable Foundation and other combined private donations and grants available each year. Funds are designated to assist students with financial aid for an accredited: a) four or five year degree at a college or university, b) two year college degree, c) trade or vocational school degree/certificate program or d) online courses.

Up to $5,000 per year when funds are available (renewable up to 4 years for a total of up to $20,000)

Scholarships can be renewed annually for a maximum of 4 years of higher education (or 5 if your specific degree requires it, documentation needed)

Students may defer an awarded scholarship for two years after graduation BUT are required to apply when they are still a high school graduating senior

Program must be completed within 6 years of high school graduation date

Full time status is defined by your school or certificate program (typically at least 12 credits per semester)

Must maintain a 2.75 GPA

Any changes in your enrollment status requires communication in writing to the West Yellowstone Foundation (email: ed@wyfmt.org) as soon as possible after the change takes place (i.e. taking a year off, changing schools, disenrolling, etc.)

2.5 cumulative High School GPA with plans to attend a trade, technical, vocational school or two-year college degree

3.0 cumulative High School GPA with plans to attend a four- or five-year college or university degree (OR 3.5 junior & senior year GPA proof required upon graduation)

Performed 40 hours community service (as verified by West Yellowstone School counselor)

Robinson Family Greatest Desire Award

This is a competitive scholarship for current Juniors and Seniors at West Yellowstone Highschool.
The funds available for this scholarship are donated by the Robinson Family. The Purpose of this award is to recognize students who are frequently overlooked by the majority of scholarships. The youth we wish to recognize will have made impressive achievements during their high school careers, demonstrating personal goal setting, effort and determination which are not typically recognized by academic or athletic scholarships or awards. This group prefers to award to students with a “B” grade point average. You do not need to continue with post-secondary education to apply for this award.
The purpose of this award is to assist in the realization of that goal. What is your greatest desire? Dream and be creative.

The funds available for this scholarship are donated by the West Yellowstone Foundation's Lilly Art Scholarship Endowment in honor of Pat Lilly. The purpose of this award is to recognize West Yellowstone students who have an interest and talent in the Arts.

This is a competitive scholarship for current Seniors graduating from West Yellowstone High School or a Homeschool Education Program.
​
The funds available for this scholarship are made available through many generous donors. The purpose of this award is to recognize West Yellowstone students who demonstrate an earnest reflection on the critical importance of preventing abuse and neglect in our community.

Eligibility:

Be in academic good standing and on schedule to receive high school diploma by graduation during the year of application.

Be (1) a graduating senior receiving a diploma from West Yellowstone High School or (2) receiving a diploma from a Homeschooling Program AND be currently, legally, and physically residing in the West Yellowstone zip code.

Deferment Request

This deferment application is for current college students who graduated high school in 2023 or prior, seeking to defer award for the upcoming semester or school year.

Recipient can defer award for up to 2 academic years

A deferment application must be completed and submitted for each deferred year.

A renewal application must be completed and submitted prior to renewal application deadline upon completion of deferment period.

Education program must be completed within 6 years of high school graduation date.

Full time status is defined by your school. Typically, at least 12 credits per semester, although we recommend 15 per semester if possible.

Any changes in your enrollment status requires communication in writing to the West Yellowstone Foundation as soon as possible after the change takes place (i.e. taking a year off, changing schools, disenrolling, etc.) Failure to contact WYF could result in losing your scholarship.

John Venhuizen Honorary Scholarship
The Gallatin Conservation District announces the availability of a $1000 scholarship in honor of long time Gallatin Conservation District board member and rancher, John Venhuizen. This scholarship is available to a graduate of the 2022 academic year from a Gallatin County High School or equivalent.

Dennis & Phyllis Washington Foundation
Helping disadvantaged youth realize the dream of attaining a higher education is a long-standing personal interest of Dennis and Phyllis Washington.
​
They have several Montana focused scholarships available. Generally due in March.
CommUNITY
West Outreach
The CommUNITY West Outreach scholarship is designed to provide assistance for the success of a West Yellowstone Student in their continuing education. It is the goal of CWO to encourage the recipient to then give back to their communities by helping others in need, no matter their social, economic or cultural differences. CWO promotes positive contributions and a circle of giving.

Fall River Electric
Over history, Fall River Electric Cooperative has helped hundreds of students gain access to higher education. Scholarships total $2,400. Scholarships are available for high school seniors planning to attend college, and to those already enrolled in higher education. Students may apply for any of their four scholarship programs.

University of Montana
The University of Montana administers most scholarship funds through the UM Scholarship Portal. The portal is accessible to all incoming and continuing UM students and offers one centralized general application, regardless of a student’s major or program of study.

Montana Community Foundation
Qualifications vary widely resulting in scholarship eligibility for a diverse range of students. For most scholarships, students can begin applying online January 1, with the closing date for applications being March 19. Scholarship awards generally range between $500 and $5,000, some of which are renewable for multiple years.
